Am I the doula for you?
Hello beautiful human! I’m Alysha and I’m so glad you’re here.
Being invited into such a vulnerable and sacred time that is a womens postpartum, is a HUGE honour. Like HUGE. I believe people are put in our paths for a reason. We might not know it, but our souls always do. That inner knowing. That voice (who we tend to ignore, amiright?). So if you’re here because you’re feeling the pull, but need to know me a bit more about who I am, please keep reading. Stalk my socials, even sneak into my DM’s.
Choosing a doula is not something that should be based on price. It is a deeply personal choice. You won’t find me trying to sell myself to you. Nope. If I’m in your space, it has to be because your inner knowing chose me. You love my energy, you know you need me on your team. You recognise the value I will bring to your birth recovery. Feeling confident and comfortable with your doula is beyond what can be measured financially. I need you to trust me fully. To open and honestly express how you are, so I can give you what it is you need to thrive.
So, who am I?
It all started in 1993…I’m just kidding. We don’t have that much time. But to summarise, I’m a twenty-something mum to two small humans. I’ve experienced a traumatic first birth followed by a very rough recovery and postpartum. Then I experienced going through a second pregnancy working through my fears of birth with a doula, to then have a healing second birth and amazing postpartum. I realised the connection. The second time around I had emotional support. I felt seen and heard. The difference was undeniable. I want every women to experience this support. To know they don’t have to go through this alone.
A lil’ bit more about me, the stuff you probably don’t need to know:
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched Shitts Creek. David Rose and I are the same human.
I’m the meme queen. I love a good GIF and meme. If I could text purely in those, I would.
I drink far too much coffee and I’m not sorry about it.
My kids have both licked floors and the 2 second rule is a loose 10 in my house.
I loath folding and putting away my own washing, but I will happily sit on the floor and origami cloth nappies for my clients (it’s very soothing).
I’m terrified of crabs. I won’t touch the ocean floor. Nope.
I’ll go almost anywhere if there’s food. FACT: my friend would use cupcakes to lure me to the gym.
I’m a loving loyal friend who will tell you the honest truth about motherhood if you ask me. I won’t say “appreciate every moment” instead I’ll say “yeah, this season can be shit. It’s okay not to love it all. How you feel is valid”.
I crave community and connection
I’m the first to offer to help, I believe I was put here to deeply serve mothers. That drive is only getting stronger as time goes on
I’m a natural neuterer
Huge fan of animals but I absolutely do not trust emus.
My dream home is a humble cottage on a hobby farm with horses and some highland cows. A place our kids can be kids a little longer, and we can slow down. My husband says I have expensive dreams, I disagree, and will one day own fluffy cows and animals I can ride around our country cottage farm.
I’m a breakfast food kind of gal. I’ll have the waffles or French toast with a large coffee, please and thank you.
I enjoy going out, but am equally as happy in pjs watching true crime docos on tv. Don’t you dare ask me to stay out after 9pm though.
If I have to street park, I’m not going.
So that’s a bit about me, all very thrilling things, I know. Want to hear more? Or perhaps chat about how I can support you in your postpartum journey?
